From May 15 to 17, Assistant Professor Toshihiro Nishimura from the Institute of Science and Engineering, Faculty of Frontier Engineering showcased his latest research findings at MEX Kanazawa 2025 (the 61st Machinery Industry Trade Fair Kanazawa), held at the Ishikawa Industry Exhibition Hall.
The exhibition booth featured Assistant Professor Nishimura's research on innovative robotic hands and the latest advancements in 3D printing technology. Visitors who saw the cutting-edge technology in action, expressed excitement and amazement, with remarks such as, "I can't believe such a robotic hand can actually be made—it's incredible!" and "It would be fascinating if this were put into practical use."
At the seminar held on the first day, Assistant Professor Nishimura delivered a lecture on the next-generation robotic hand he has been developing. As one of the most crucial components of robotic systems, the innovative mechanism and functionality of his robotic hand represent a true "hand of the future." It is not merely a tool for grasping objects but a groundbreaking technology that holds the key to enabling a broader range of tasks. Through his presentation, he conveyed to attendees how this advancement is set to revolutionize the capabilities of robotic systems.
This year's theme for MEX Kanazawa was "Technology Paving the Way: The Pulse of the Future," serving as a platform where attendees could experience the forefront of technological innovation. Companies and universities from both within and outside the prefecture gathered to showcase their latest advancements, and among them, Kanazawa University's booth drew significant attention from visitors.
